Mango finds her Meredith

In the first pictures we saw of Mango, and her brother Murphy, they looked black. Black because of the incredible number of fleas feasting on their blood. Abandoned on a back road in San Antonio, TX they were left to fend for themselves until an animal-loving samaritan found them and brought them to a local shelter. Due to Hurricane Harvey looming close to Texas, the number of animals either surrendered or brought in as strays was staggering and shelters were overfilled. We were notified about Mango and Murphy: would we take them to make room for two more dogs?

Transport was arranged to Vermont. After arrival,  medical treatments, a good diet, supplements and socialization, the siblings were cleared for adoption. Today Mango met his new mom, Meredith. Mango turned on the charm with her expressive eyes and ‘won’t-you-pat-my-belly’ gestures. Mango will now enjoy an active lifestyle, gets to go to work with Meredith and will live beside a New England nature preserve. Quite a journey. We bid a teary farewell to Mango today knowing she will be cared for, loved and cherished.
