Hendrix is a handsome American Bulldog. He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and in great health. Hendrix came to us through a partner rescue in South Carolina. He is strong and in need of leash manners, although improving every day. Hendrix is friendly and social.

He seems curious and interested in other dogs and has not been at all reactive when around them. Being as big as he is, we prefer a home with no small children. We feel that he may have been used as a breeder due to symmetrical cuts out of both ears. He also seems very comfortable in a kennel setting. Hendrix has shown no signs of aggression around humans, food, toys or other dogs.

In his own words:

Hi there! Hendrix here.

I am currently a resident at English Bulldog Rescue. While the team there is taking great care of me, I would love to find a family and home to call my very own. With that in mind I have decided to take matters into my own paws and put out a personal ad.

If you look into my golden eyes you will no doubt agree that I am 80 pounds of pure HANDSOME! Not to wag my own tail if you will, but to go with my dashing good looks I have the personality to match. Some might even say I am the complete package.

I am an easy going guy in excellent health who is ready for his forever people. I have no food or toy aggression, ride well in cars, get along with other dogs, don’t really mind cats (not much prey drive), and seem to even be fine with the tiny humans. Now as I mentioned I am 80-ish pounds and do have enthusiastic moments so I might be better with older tiny humans just due to my size.

Now nobody is perfect, so in the spirit of total honesty let me share a few of my lesser qualities if you will. Squirrels… I can’t deny it, they are my weakness! I am also a bit stubborn, while I am extremely smart and probably very trainable I haven’t quite mastered the basic commands of sit, stay, come etc. So you will need to be patient when working with me! I will say however, I am getting much better at walking on a leash!

Must haves:

-Time to walk, run, or hike with me. American Bulldogs are working dogs after all, so I enjoy being active!
-A safe house to sleep in with a comfortable bed to dream about chasing squirrels.
-Two square meals a day, and fresh cold water. Dog cookies in between meals are of course welcome!
-Car rides with widows partially down so my nose can stick out.
-Toys
-A lap to sit on (no I am not too big for that)
-Most importantly unconditional love!
