Dallas finds her home

In November we brought Dallas, an 18-month-old Great Pyrenees from San Antonio, Texas to Vermont. Our great new foster Gina met the transport at the ungodly hour of 3 am, 2 hours from home. When she arrived at my house around four, Dallas was hunkered down in the front wheel well, not interested in moving. The tip was long and scary and she had had enough. Gina graciously offered to foster her and I quickly agreed. And so she has cared for, loved and socialized Dallas for these few weeks.

Fostering is such a wonderful gift to us, lessening our numbers. More importantly it allows the dogs to experience a home, some for the first time. In this case, it allowed Dallas time to relax, unwind and trust.

On Friday, Maureen and her family made the ferry trip across Lake Champlain to adopt Dallas. She had come over the week before and fell in love. And so Dallas now has a home and a family for life. We are so happy for this first adoption of 2018!
