Bella finds her home

Life truly does take us on journeys that we did not ask for nor necessarily want. This morning my first email was a notification about help needed with an English Bulldog in Hawaii….seriously? As effective as I think I am at this rescue stuff, Hawaii is not even a possibility. There are just too many variables that require air transport. So, sadly no, I could not help. And so, how ironic that my second adoption of the day was with Kalani, from Hawaii to adopt Bella, our little Basset mix from Texas. Talk about multi-cultural!

Kalani and his partner Julie came to meet little Bella a week ago as a default when another family could not make it. Bella, who has clearly experienced some trauma in her life that causes her to be wary, warmed right up to Kalani and Julie. You can see in this picture that she was on her back in minutes. Bella is a sweet old soul. She will make direct eye contact and hold it, but not in a dominent way, just seeking deep connection. Bella is a special girl. These folks will see to it that she has all the love and safety that she can handle for life.
