Murphy’s courage

When your primary doctor calls on a Sunday afternoon and leaves messages on both your cell phone and your land line, that is cause to worry. Is the Grim Reaper moving closer? I was outside when the messages were left, and so called right back. The answer to the aforementioned question is…we hope not.

However my health was not the purpose of the call, a potential dog adoption was. It is ironic and awesome really that the person who sees me bleary eyed from lack of sleep with a recent blood pressure reading that was less that desirable, after managing 28 dogs at one time, including nine puppies, was here to adopt from my rescue. To boot, she wanted to meet shy Murphy!

How can that be? After Murphy’s sister Mango was adopted, he lost his courage. He became so fearful that it was tear inducing to witness. Adriene and her husband and beautiful daughter saw right through to his sweet heart.

Nothing could have moved me more than her voice on the phone saying, “We are in, committed to bringing him back.” And so, today little Murphy went off to his forever home and just in time for the holidays. He will have Molly a canine friend whom he has already met to show him the ropes, and so like the lion in The Wizard of Oz, he will find his courage in a most unexpected place, a loving and supportive family. Thank you for seeing his heart!
